Sri Lanka, May 22 -- The Constitutional Council (CC) has rejected President Anura Kumara Dissanayake's nominee for the post of Auditor General, reliable sources told Daily Mirror.

Members of the CC were compelled to take a vote as they were divided on the issue, according to sources.

Accordingly, five members voted against the nominee while three voted in favor. Those who voted against included Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, his nominee MP Ajith P. Perera, and one of the three members representing civil society. Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, Leader of the House Bimal Ratnayake, and NPP MP Abubakar Adambawa were among those who voted in favor.
