Sri Lanka, Dec. 3 -- Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa today called for a new programme to rebuild the nation after the recent disaster and therefore cancel the IMF agreement and go for a fresh agreement.
"The present extended fund facility agreement, which Sri Lanka has got into with the IMF cannot be implemented now in the aftermath of the disaster. Therefore, it is essential to cancel the present agreement with IMF and go for a new agreement," Premadasa said.
He added that Sri Lanka also should begin a dialogue with US President Donald Trump to get the reciprocal tariff.
Furthermore, he said the government should go for a new budget and call for an international donor conference as well.
