Sri Lanka, Feb. 16 -- Charith Asalanka led the Sri Lanka ODI team to a thumping 2-0 win over Australia after the home team had been embarrassed in Galle in the Test series by Steven Smith and co.

Sri Lanka found themselves in a fairly familiar situation losing five wickets for 55 runs in the first ODI, before skipper Asalanka played his best innings in limited overs cricket to take Sri Lanka to a fighting total of 214, and then the new-look Australian batting line-up was blown away by the Sri Lankan bowlers.

Under Asalanka's captaincy Sri Lanka have done very well in the ODIs beating India, Australia, New Zealand and West Indies and his performances with the bat has opened up a conversation about a possible return to Test cricket.
