Sri Lanka, June 25 -- The Cabinet has decided to appoint a sub-committee to assess and prepare for potential challenges Sri Lanka may face due to the escalating military situation in the Middle East.
Recognising the wide-ranging implications of the conflict-including potential effects on foreign employment, energy security, trade and tourism-the Cabinet has emphasised the need for proactive planning.
The newly appointed Cabinet sub-committee will be chaired by Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath. Other members include Ministers Samantha Vidyarathne, Wasantha Samarasinghe and Kumara Jayakody.
