Sri Lanka, Nov. 11 -- The government has taken steps to strengthen the operational capacity of the Department of Prisons by approving the purchase of essential vehicles required for its duties related to court operations and inmate welfare.
The Department had identified the need for additional vehicles to efficiently manage the transportation of suspects remanded by various courts across the country and to support other welfare-related services within the prison system.
Accordingly, bids were invited under the National Competitive Procurement Procedure to purchase 30 buses (44-seaters), 10 buses (30-seaters), 10 vans, 5 gully bowsers, and 3 tractors. Eight bidders submitted proposals for the procurement.
