Sri Lanka, Feb. 10 -- In a significant step towards inclusive public transport, the Cabinet has approved a pilot project to introduce air-conditioned low-floor buses equipped with facilities for people with special needs, under the Clean Sri Lanka initiative.

Procurement for 10 such buses has been completed, and they are scheduled to arrive in the country by March 15, 2026. The buses are designed to ensure easier access, greater comfort, and a safer travel experience for passengers with disabilities.
