Sri Lanka, Jan. 6 -- The Cabinet has approved a resolution submitted by the President to promptly finalize the draft bill for the National Lotteries Board, incorporating proposed amendments.
Established under the Finance Act No. 11 of 1963, the National Lotteries Board (NLB) is set to undergo legal updates to meet the current demands of the lottery market, nearly 62 years after the original law was enacted.
Recognizing the need to modernize the legislation, the Cabinet had approved the drafting of a new bill at its meeting on February 14, 2017. The NLB later identified further amendments to be included in the draft prepared by the Legal Draftsmen.
