Sri Lanka, Nov. 18 -- The Cabinet of Ministers has granted policy approval to repeal the Parliamentary Pensions Act No. 1 of 1971, following a decision taken at the Cabinet meeting.
The Legal Draftsman has now prepared the Bill aimed at abolishing the pension entitlements granted to Members of Parliament and their spouses.
The Attorney General has also given clearance for the draft.
Accordingly, the proposal presented by the Minister of Justice and National Integration to publish the Bill in the Government Gazette and submit it to Parliament for approval received the Cabinet endorsement.
