Sri Lanka, Sept. 2 -- The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) seized unauthorized cosmetics and improperly labelled food items during a series of raids in Pettah.
According to officials, the inspections uncovered unauthorized whitening creams and unregistered cosmetic products in several outlets, posing serious health risks to consumers.
The raids also led to the detection of large stocks of imported chocolates lacking proper labelling, expiry dates, or ingredient details - a violation of consumer protection laws that raises significant safety concerns.
The CAA said it will continue nationwide inspections to protect consumers and ensure only safe, genuine, and legally imported products are available in the market.
