Sri Lanka, June 20 -- The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) launched a series of raids targeting businesses selling edible salt at inflated prices without proper labelling.
According to officials, several traders were found selling salt without the mandatory details of the manufacturer, importer or supplier responsible for the product, in violation of consumer protection regulations.
The CAA said that legal action is being initiated against those found guilty, and urged consumers to be vigilant when purchasing essential commodities.
Authorities said that all edible salt products must display clear labelling with the price, manufacturer and supplier information to ensure public safety and prevent unfair trade practices.
