Sri Lanka, Jan. 2 -- The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has collected more than Rs. 285 million in fines from raids carried out during 2025, the authority said in a statement.

According to the CAA, the fines were imposed after filing cases based on around 21,000 raids conducted islandwide during the year.

The authority said it also took steps to test 223 samples of food and non-food products to ensure compliance with required standards. Items tested included steel wire, coconut oil, cosmetics, rice, canned fish, chilli powder, liquid milk, hair dyes, cordials and syrups, among others.
