Colombo, April 28 -- The Court of Appeal today dismissed the writ application filed by former Minister Prasanna Ranaweera, who sought an order to prevent his arrest in connection with the alleged illegal sale of government land in Kelaniya.

A two-judge bench comprising Acting President of the Court of Appeal Justice M.T. Mohammed Laffar and Justice K.P. Fernando delivered this order after considering the facts.

Ranaweera filed this petition requesting an order to prevent his arrest in connection with an incident involving the illegal sale of government land in the Kelaniya area. The Mahara Magistrate's Court has already imposed a travel ban on three suspects including Prasanna Ranaweera in connection with this incident.
