Sri Lanka, Feb. 3 -- A businessman alleged to have sexually abused 36 children below the age of 18 has been arrested by the Bureau for the Prevention of Abuse of Children and Women, police said.
The suspect, a resident of Peradeniya, was arrested following a complaint lodged by a person from Kandy. During examinations of digital devices in his possession, police uncovered material relating to the abuse of 36 underage children.
Investigations revealed that the suspect, with the assistance of several others, had recorded videos of his sexual activities with the victims. In Sri Lanka, the age of consent is 18.
