Sri Lanka, Jan. 1 -- The Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development has announced that bus services will be launched on 40 rural roads where public transport has not been operating so far, starting from today (01).
The move is part of the broader Punarudayata Maga program, under which development of 76 rural roads will also begin on the same date. The initiative aims to improve connectivity in rural areas, provide easier access to markets and essential services, and strengthen the rural economy.
A sum of Rs. 5,000 million has been allocated for the first phase of the project, which is being implemented by the Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development.
