Colombo, Nov. 9 -- The government's failure to address salary discrepancies and welfare issues of doctors could accelerate the migration of young medical professionals, Specialist Dr. Chamal Sanjeewa, Chairman of the Medical and Civil Rights Doctors' Trade Union Alliance warns.

He said that despite long-standing disparities in salaries and allowances, no practical steps have been taken to ensure a living wage for doctors. "With the current high tax policy, doctors face severe financial pressure, especially those who do not engage in private practice," he explained.
