Sri Lanka, Sept. 10 -- Amy Victoria, a British citizen, was honoured by the Tourism Ministry for her role in assisting those injured in the recent bus accident in Ella on Tuesday.

Deputy Minister said the ceremony, held at the Parliament complex, was a gesture of gratitude on behalf of the Sri Lankan people.

"Her selfless actions remind us that humanity knows no borders," he noted, adding that Ms. Victoria's compassion and courage saved lives during a moment of crisis.

Ms. Victoria was on a nine-day tour of Sri Lanka with her mother when she learned about the tragedy. It was her first visit to the country, while her mother had visited before.
