Srilanka, Feb. 4 -- Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malclom Ranjith today called for vast political, economic and legal reforms which will bring real freedom for the people of Sri Lanka.
Speaking during a special service to mark the 77th Independence Day, Cardinal Ranjith called for a new Constitution, scrapping of the Online Safety Bill and a new legislation which guides the head of state to serve the people rather than enjoying power and perks.
"The current Constitution should be scrapped as soon as possible and a new legislation which makes the head of state legally bound to serve the nation without enjoying power and perks should be introduced," he said.
