Sri Lanka, Sept. 1 -- A six-year-old boy died after falling into an unprotected well in the Pathiranegama area of Polpithigama.

The victim, a resident of the Welpitiya village in Moragollagama, had been playing alone when he had fallen into the abandoned well located behind the house.

He was rescued and admitted to the Polpithigama Hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.

The body is currently at the Polpithigama Hospital mortuary, while the Polpithigama Police have launched further investigations into the incident.a
