Srilanka, Feb. 18 -- The government has allocated Rs.3 billion for its digital transformation strategies this year, as part of its efforts to generate US $ 15 billion in revenue through the digital economy by 2030.
"Our aim is to elevate the digital economy to over US $ 15 billion or 12 percent of the national economy, over the next five years. We also seek to increase the ICT industry's annual export revenue to US $ 5 billion," President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said while presenting Budget 2025 yesterday.
To support the initiative, he announced the establishment of a new apex Digital Economic Authority, which will oversee the country's transition toward a cashless economy.
