Sri Lanka, July 21 -- Despite a temporary ban imposed on boating activities at Gregory Lake due to severe weather conditions, boat operators resumed services today, citing continued economic pressure and dwindling tourist numbers.
The ban, which was in effect until today, was introduced as a safety measure following advice from the Nuwara Eliya District Secretary and the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council, amid high winds and adverse weather in the region.
Boat owners acknowledged the risks but said the prolonged bad weather has significantly reduced both local and foreign tourist arrivals, leaving them with little choice but to operate.
Authorities have not yet responded to the decision to resume boating operations.
