Sri Lanka, Dec. 20 -- The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) has urged President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to take immediate steps to ensure the provision of adequate and independent financial resources to the Right to Information (RTI) Commission, stressing that such measures are essential to safeguard its autonomy and ability to effectively discharge its mandate.
In a letter addressed to the Head of State yesterday (19), the BASL expressed deep concern over the challenges currently faced by the RTI Commission, particularly severe understaffing and inadequate financing.
