Sri Lanka, Sept. 24 -- Parliament, September 24 (Daily Mirror) - Referring to the Penal Code amendment under which both physical and non-physical punishment are banned in schools, the Minister of Childcare Saroja Paulraj said it is aimed at preventing a child's emotional suffering during and after a punishment.
"One can see a child's wounds when he or she is subjected to physical punishment. However. a child's emotional wounds are not visible when it comes to non-physical punishment. It is important to prevent such sufferings which children have to undergo," she added.
