Srilanka, May 12 -- The Public Health Inspectors' (PHI) Union has requested individuals with infectious diseases to refrain from organising or attending Dansal events.
The union's secretary, Chamil Muthukuda, urged the public to strictly follow health guidelines for the safety of others, citing the rapid spread of infectious diseases in recent days.
He also said that all Dansals held islandwide will be continuously inspected throughout the Vesak week.
Furthermore, he noted that action will be taken against food-serving points that operate in unclean and unhygienic conditions.
According to the union, 8,894 Dansals have been registered across the country in conjunction with the Vesak festival.
