Srilanka, March 9 -- Deputy Minister of Public Security Sunil Watagala said that if Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon continues to evade court proceedings, his movable and immovable assets will be freezed in accordance with legal provisions.

He said the assets can be freezed under the circular already issued by Acting IGP Priyantha Weerasuriya.

The Deputy Minister made these remarks during a ceremony in Modara.

Earlier, police said that legal action will be taken against anyone found assisting IGP Tennakoon in evading arrest.

A warrant for Tennakoon's arrest has been issued, and authorities have emphasised that any individual aiding him will face legal consequences.
