Colombo, Nov. 9 -- Swift action based on intelligence received by the Army Intelligence Unit led to the arrest of several suspects involved in illegal drug trafficking and the possession of wallapatta (Gyrinops walla) during two separate joint operations conducted, the Army said.

On 8 November 2025, following a tip-off from the Army Intelligence Unit, officers from the Colombo Organized Crimes Division carried out a joint raid in the Mitiyagoda, Godagama area. The operation resulted in the arrest of six suspects in possession of 5 kilograms and 420 grams of heroin, valued at approximately Rs. 75 million.
