Sri Lanka, Aug. 4 -- The body of a wild elephant was discovered in a swamp near the Karametiya Tank in the Dahaiyagala area, within the Hambegamuwa Police Division, officials confirmed today.
According to wildlife authorities, the elephant had received medical treatment on multiple occasions but later succumbed to its condition. The exact cause of death remains unknown, pending a post-mortem examination.
Wildlife officials and officers from the Hambegamuwa Police Station are continuing investigations into the incident.
