Srilanka, Feb. 6 -- The Vehicular Emission Test Trust Fund of the Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) has reported a slightly unhealthy air quality level for the second consecutive day in most cities, while moderate levels were recorded in Nuwara Eliya, Batticaloa and Hambantota.
According to officials, the deteriorating air quality is attributed to polluted wind flow from the northern region, influenced by transboundary conditions and wind direction.
Air quality indicators are expected to fluctuate between slightly unhealthy and unhealthy levels across the country in the coming days.
Additionally, moderate air quality levels were reported in Jaffna, Kurunegala, Vavuniya, Kegalle, Nuwara Eliya, Mullaitivu, Batticaloa and Kalutara.
