Sri Lanka, Jan. 30 -- The Ministry of Plantations and Community Infrastructure and the Sri Lanka Planters' Association today (30) signed an agreement to increase the salaries of plantation workers, the Ministry said.
The agreement was exchanged by Secretary to the Ministry of Plantations and Community Infrastructure, Prabath Chandrakeerthi, and President of the Sri Lanka Planters' Association, Sunil Poholiyadda.
Under the agreement, the basic daily wage of plantation workers has been increased from Rs. 1,350 to Rs. 1,550 along with an additional Rs. 200 as an attendance allowance.
Meanwhile, in presenting the 2026 Budget, the President announced measures to further increase the daily wage of plantation workers to Rs. 1,750.
