Srilanka, Feb. 13 -- The Attorney General (AG) has not withdrawn his advice letter, sent on January 27, 2025, which discharged three suspects related to the abduction of Sunday Leader Editor Lasantha Wickremetunge's driver and the disappearance of Lasantha's field notebook, reliable sources at the AG's Department said.

The sources denied media reports claiming that the Attorney General has withdrawn his earlier advice letter.

The sources further stated that the CID had been informed by the Attorney General that there is no restriction on considering fresh material and filing indictments against the suspects if sufficient evidence is available.
