Sri Lanka, Dec. 19 -- Seventy three children have lost their parents - one or both - due to disasters triggered by Cyclone Ditwah as reported by December 16.
The statistics released to the media by the Women and Child Affairs Ministry said that the highest number of 21 children are from the Badulla District followed by 20 in Kandy and 15 in the Nuwara-Eliya. Data has been compiled based on information received by the National Child Probation Authority.
Cyclone Ditwah made landfall on November 28 unleashing floods and landslides. Over 600 people were killed. Many people are still missing.
The country suffered damages amounting to US $ 6.7 billion.
