Sri Lanka, Jan. 24 -- The government has completed the disbursement of 70 per cent of the LKR 50,000 allowance allocated to families affected by Cyclone Ditwah to support their resettlement, President's Media Division (PMD) said.

They said a total of 156,805 families across 25 districts were identified as eligible for the allowance meant to assist in purchasing essential household and kitchen items. Payments have so far been completed for 109,512 families.

Full disbursement has been achieved in the districts of Nuwara Eliya, Galle, Matara, Hambantota, Jaffna, Vavuniya, Kilinochchi, Ampara, Badulla and Monaragala. In Nuwara Eliya alone, all 1,191 eligible families have received the allowance.
