Sri Lanka, Dec. 11 -- Some 400 families in the Matale District were today issued with fresh warnings by the National Building and Research Organisation to leave for safer locations due to the risk of earth slips and rock falls.

Matale District Head of the National Building and Research Organisation, Senior Geologist Chaminda Moremada said more than 400 endangered locations had been identified by this morning.

He said gale force winds and heavy rain experienced at present resulted in this danger.

The official said the Dodandeniya hill overlooking Matale town has developed cracks and endangered with falling rocks.

He further said the Ambokka, Wulugala, Hunugala and Rawanakanda hill ranges were undergoing geological changes
