Colombo, April 9 -- Officers attached to the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) have taken legal action against 36 vendors found to be conducting sales in violation of the CAA Act.

The raids were conducted as part of a special programme launched by the CAA for the festive season, with increased focus on monitoring sales activities across the island.

During the programme, special raids and investigations were carried out, paying particular attention to businesses suspected of inflating the prices of clothing and electrical appliances.

CAA officers have been instructed to place greater emphasis on these issues during upcoming inspections.
