Sri Lanka, Jan. 24 -- Sri Lanka Police say that 318 individuals were arrested in connection with various cybercrimes during the past year, 2025.

Police Media Spokesperson ASP F.U. Wootler stated that more than 2,000 cybercrime complaints were recorded during the year, highlighting a growing threat in the digital space.

He noted that cybercriminals primarily target the youth and the elderly, while individuals who have only recently gained access to the internet are also particularly vulnerable.

ASP Wootler urged the public to remain vigilant and exercise caution when using online platforms, emphasizing the importance of not sharing passwords or personal information with unknown or unauthorized parties.
