Sri Lanka, Jan. 24 -- Construction of 31,218 new houses across the country has been launched under the "A Place to Belong - A Better Life" National Housing Programme 2026, the President's Media Division said.

The programme was launched recently in Jaffna under the leadership of the President and includes 2,500 houses for families displaced by the war in the Northern and Eastern provinces.

The initiative forms part of the government's broader effort to provide long-term housing solutions and improve living standards nationwide.
