Srilanka, Feb. 11 -- Sri Lanka celebrated seventy-seven years of gaining independence from British rule last Tuesday (Feb 4). The occasion was of historic importance as it was the first Independence day under the presidency of Anura Kumara Dissanayake. President Dissanayake and his JVP led NPP Government earned much kudos for the manner in which the 77th freedom day event was held.
