Sri Lanka, Sept. 9 -- The Western Province (South) Crime Division arrested a suspect in Hanwella who is suspected to be the gunman linked to the organised criminal known as 'Homagama Handaya.'

Police said the suspect, a former soldier named Buddhika Lakmal, alias 'Army Suranga,' was arrested with a firearm.

A 12-bore locally made firearm and three live cartridges were seized from the suspect. Police said that the firearm had been dismantled into two pieces and placed in a bag.

He is alleged to have been involved in a shooting in Hanwella last month, where an individual was shot at and injured.
