Srilanka, Feb. 18 -- Today, February 18, 2025, marks the 35th year since the abduction and brutal killing of journalist, teacher, poet, playwright, actor and activist Richard de Zoysa. On February 18, 1990, Richard was abducted by the state-sponsored death squad in the presence of his mother Dr. Manorani Saravanamuttu and inhumanely beaten him, shot him and his body was thrown in the sea. His lifeless body with broken jaws, shooting in the head and throat was a sheer witness to the inhuman torture he had undergone.
