Initiative Expands Solar Energy Infrastructure in Schools to Strengthen Education Services
Haryana, April 15, 2025 – Aptiv Components India Pvt. Ltd. has completed the fifth phase of its Clean Energy Access Program (CEAP) by supporting the installation of solar power at 14 additional schools – six in Maharashtra, five in Haryana, and three in Tamil Nadu. The investment furthers efforts to provide reliable electricity for essential services such as education and healthcare, particularly in rural and underserved areas. Since Aptiv’s CEAP introduction five years ago, a total of 66 government schools and 13 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) have been provided with solar power totalling 470.7 kilowatt peak (kWp).
Schools play a crucial role as community hubs and uninterrupted power enables digital literacy, the use of technology in classrooms, and overall improvements in learning outcomes. Recognizing the transformative impact of energy access, Aptiv launched CEAP as part of its corporate social responsibility commitments in collaboration with implementing partners Shree Shakti Consciousness Foundation (SSCF) and the International Institute for Energy Conservation (IIEC India).
CEAP focuses on bridging the energy gap in rural India through the installation of off-grid solar photovoltaic (PV) systems with battery backup across villages in Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Haryana, and Karnataka. The program has contributed significantly to improving the quality of education and healthcare services, ensuring last-mile service delivery even in remote locations.
To mark the completion of the fifth phase of CEAP, a handover and training workshop was held in Haryana, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra, attended by district education officers, representatives from Aptiv, SSCF, and IIEC India, as well as school principals and teachers. SSCF officials conducted a comprehensive training session on the operation and maintenance of solar PV systems, ensuring their long-term sustainability. Aptiv representatives formally handed over the systems to the beneficiary schools, reaffirming the company’s dedication to community empowerment through renewable energy solutions.
“While Aptiv is helping to create a world with zero emissions by enabling a greener future of mobility, our clean-energy commitment extends beyond our vehicle innovations. As part of our sustainability goals, we have pledged to source 100 percent renewable energy globally for our operations by 2030,” said Amitabh Mathur, President and Managing Director of Aptiv India and ASEAN, in his statement.
“As we upgrade and expand our manufacturing and technical capabilities in India, we continue to look for new ways to promote renewable energy and give back to the communities where our team members live and work. Through CEAP, we are not only improving infrastructure in schools and healthcare centres but also fostering long-term resilience in rural communities. By investing in sustainable energy, we are actively contributing to the nation’s journey towards energy equity and inclusive development,” he added.
With a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility, sustainability, and technological innovation, Aptiv continues to drive impactful programs that align with communities’ development priorities. CEAP demonstrates the company’s commitment to creating a greener, sustainable future benefits that even the most remote communities benefit from it.
