Dhaka, March 10 -- Police have arrested a man in Chattogram on charges of "raping" his 10-year-old daughter.

The man, identified as 52-year-old Pradeep Kumar Banik, was arrested from his house in east Boluar Dighi in Kotwali Thana on Sunday night.

Abdul Karim, chief of the Kotwali Police Station, said they received a call on the national emergency service number 999 reporting the rape on Sunday night. Later, police apprehended Pradeep at his home.

The child has been sent to the One-Stop Crisis Center at Chattogram Medical College Hospital along with her mother and aunt.

Karim further stated that preparations for a case were underway.
