Dhaka, Dec. 19 -- The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested Sukanta Dutta, a suspect in the murder of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif, in Bandarban.

A statement issued on Friday by RAB-7 Assistant Director (Media) and Assistant Superintendent of Police ARM Mozzaffar Hossain said Sukanta, 30, was detained around 1pm near Nilachal Joint Farm under Bandarban Sadar Police Station.

A joint team of RAB-7 and RAB-15 carried out the operation, it added.

Chattogram Metropolitan Court Assistant Public Prosecutor Md Raihanul Wazed Chowdhury told bdnews24.com, "Sukanta's arrest brings the total number of suspects in custody to 22, with 17 still on the run."
