Dhaka, Oct. 27 -- Mayor Sahadat Hossain has served a show-cause notice to Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) chief executive officer on the charge of "negligence in duty".

The mayor alleged that CEO Sheikh Mohammed Tauhidul Islam had neglected the investigation into allegations of irregularities in tax assessment.

The notice, issued on Monday and addressed to the CEO, said the allegation of irregularity in tax assessment was raised against him on May 28, 2023.

"From that time until Sept 5, he did not take any steps to arrange for the submission of the findings, identify the culprits, or reassess the holding tax of the two concerned institutions."
