Dhaka, Dec. 28 -- The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has nominated Golam Akbar Khandaker, an advisor to Chairperson Khaleda Zia, to contest in the general election from Chattogram-6 constituency, which covers Raozan.

This was the party's second nomination of a candidate for the seat. Giasuddin Quader Chowdhury secured BNP nomination first for the constituency earlier in the month.

Election Commission officials said a party can have more than one candidate in a seat. But parties are required to finalise one candidate before the deadline for candidacy withdrawal.

After securing the BNP nomination on Dec 5, Gias collected the nomination papers on Dec 17.
