Dhaka, Dec. 19 -- A group of protesters has set fire to the residence of former Chattogram City Corporation mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury during demonstrations in the city over the death of Inqilab Moncho Convenor Sharif Osman bin Hadi.

The arson attack occurred 11:15pm on Thursday in the Sholoshahar area, where the house stands on Mayor Goli in Chashma Hill.

Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury Nowfel, the eldest son of the late mayor and the former education minister, used to live in there.

This is the second major attack on the home of the late Chittagong legend whose son served as education minister in the 2024 Hasina Cabinet since August last year.
