Dhaka, Feb. 20 -- Police have arrested eight Jubo League activists in Chattogram during a flash procession.

They were detained on Friday while bringing out a rally at the Rifle Club intersection in observance of International Mother Language Day.

The arrestees are identified by the single names Tushar, Rakib, Munna, and Ibrahim, as well as Abdullah Al Noman, Hamid Miazzi, Riad Hossain, and Sharif Hossain.

Kotwali Police chief Aftab Uddin told bdnews24.com that activists of a "banned" organisation were arrested when they attempted to bring out a procession.

Stating that they had gathered from different parts of Chattogram, the officer said legal action had been taken against them.
