Dhaka, Jan. 1 -- The nomination papers of eight candidates, including BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami candidates, have been approved for Chattogram-11 (port-Patenga) constituency, while four candidates, including a leader of the Islami Andolan Bangladesh, have been disqualified.
The development was confirmed by Additional Regional Election Officer Mohammad Sakhawat Hossain on Thursday during the scrutiny of nominations.
Approved candidates include BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Jamaat's Mohammad Shafiul Alam, Jatiya Party's Abu Taher, BaSaD-Marxist's Deepa Majumdar, Gono Forum's Ujjal Bhowmik, Islami Front Bangladesh's Abu Taher, BaSaD's Nizamul Haq Al Qaderi, and Insaniyat Biplob's Aziz Mia.
