Dhaka, Dec. 10 -- Debapriya Bhattacharya, fellow at the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), has expressed concerns over the country's capacity to hold a "credible and acceptable election".
He spoke after a regional consultation organised by the Citizen Platform for SDG Implementation, Bangladesh on Wednesday.
He said, "The interim government also desires an election. There is significant support for holding elections. Yet the apprehension about whether the system can deliver a fair and acceptable vote persists."
He urged the government and Election Commission to dispel these doubts and ensure a participatory, high-quality election.
