Dhaka, Oct. 7 -- A businessman has been shot dead while travelling in a car near Madunaghat Bridge in Chattogram, police say.
The victim, Abdul Hakim, 46, owned Hamim Agro and lived at Panchkhain of Raozan Upazila.
Locals said he was known as a pro-BNP businessman and a follower of Giasuddin Quader Chowdhury, the party's vice-chairman (suspended).
Around 5.45pm on Tuesday, Hakim's car was attacked at the base of the bridge while returning from Raozan to Chattogram city.
Additional Police Superintendent for Hathazari Circle Md Tarek Aziz told bdnews24.com, "A group of assailants on motorcycles intercepted his car and fired shots from outside before speeding away."
