Dhaka, Dec. 13 -- A mobile court has fined a BNP-backed candidate in Chattogram for violating the electoral code of conduct.

Nazmul Mostafa Amin, who secured the BNP nomination to contest the general election from Chattogram-15, was fined Tk 50,000 for leading a motorcade in Amirabad within his electoral area, violating the code, said Saiful Islam, the Lohagara Upazila administrator, who is also an assistant returning officer.

Mobile courts have started operating from Friday to monitor electoral code compliance.

A total of 42 executive magistrates have been tasked with preventing electoral code violations in the 16 Chattogram constituencies.
