Dhaka, Jan. 20 -- A couple are contesting two seats in Chattogram in the upcoming 13th general election, with a large portion of their campaign expenses borne by their relatives.

The two candidates from Insaniyat Biplob Bangladesh are Mohammad Emdadul Haque and his wife Sabina Khatun. Emdadul is running for the Chattogram-8 (Boalkhali, Chandgaon and parts of Panchlaish) seat, while Sabina is running for Chattogram-10 (Pahartali, Double Mooring and Halishahar).

Their nomination papers have already been declared valid, and both will contest the election under the "apple" party symbol.

In his affidavits submitted to the Election Commission, Emdadul Haque, a private sector employee, declared total election expenses of Tk 801,000. Of this a...
